Preparing and Packing: Video Equipment Checklist

The excitement before a diving trip is an emotion every videomaker knows well. However, to make this experience truly memorable, it’s essential to focus on a key aspect: preparing your video equipment.
Ideally, you should start this process well in advance; I prefer to do it about three weeks before departure. This gives me enough time to calmly handle any unforeseen issues without last-minute stress. It’s not just good practice, but a genuine investment in the success of the trip.
Imagine arriving at your destination, ready for the first dive, only to discover that the housing has a small crack or that you’ve forgotten the safety straps to secure the GoPro to your GAV. Starting early allows you to order any necessary spare parts or carry out repairs without rush or anxiety.
To help you, I’ve made my video equipment checklist available for download. And, to satisfy a little curiosity, I’ll reveal that all the video gear (excluding the laptop) weighs about 3 kg.
