href=\"https:\/\/gopro.github.io\/labs\/\">GoPro Labs<\/a> website. Once the web page is open, one needs to select the GoPro model intended for update and proceed with downloading the corresponding .zip file. Next, the microSD card must be inserted into the computer, the contents of the just-downloaded .zip file extracted, and the entire \u201cUPDATE\u201d folder copied into the card\u2019s root directory.<br \/>It is crucial to ensure that this folder is not placed inside any other subfolders.<br \/>At this point, with the GoPro\u2019s battery fully charged, the microSD card should be inserted into it and the camera turned on: the firmware update will start automatically.<br \/>Once the new firmware has been successfully installed, one can proceed with generating specific QR codes to activate the various additional features. For each selection, the app generates a QR code: when you scan it with the GoPro turned on, a red checkmark (and an audible tone) will appear on the rear screen to confirm the new configuration.<br \/>By clicking the \u201cSave\u201d icon in the lower-left corner, the QR code will be saved to the Photos gallery as a .png file.<br \/>By default, all Labs commands reset when the GoPro is turned off. This distance is essential especially when videos are published horizontally on YouTube but the same material must be used to create vertical Stories and Reels for Instagram and Facebook.<br \/>Unfortunately, if a proper margin is not maintained during filming, the result will be an inflexible clip, as the subject will inevitably be too bulky for the 9:16 format. It is possible, however, to avoid this problem by using the &#8220;GUID&#8221; extension from GoPro Labs, which allows the display of framing guides for various aspect ratios (9:16, 8:7, 4:3, etc.) on the GoPro screen.<br \/>By entering, for example, the number 0.5625 in the appropriate space, two vertical lines for the 9:16 format will appear on the display. This visual reference allows for an immediate understanding of whether there is excessive proximity to the subject, inducing the maintenance of the correct safety distance. saving precious time.<br \/>To achieve this synchronization, you can therefore use your mobile phone to generate a QR Code. This might be fine if you own just one camera, but when using multiple GoPros simultaneously, it becomes very difficult to distinguish which camera the clips came from. <br>Recently, at the end of a dive, I even had the misfortune of finding the exact same numbering on files from my GoPro 12 and GoPro 13: a coincidence that significantly complicated file archiving.<br>This feature is designed precisely to solve this problem: naming source files differently simplifies both archiving and post-production.<br>To make this change, for the sake of simplicity, I recommend using this link directly&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/gopro.github.io\/labs\/control\/basename\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/gopro.github.io\/labs\/control\/basename\/<\/a>&nbsp;and doing it via the GoPro website.<br>From there, in the first fillable field, in addition to adding a prefix to the filename (for example, GP13A and GP13B, as I did), you can also include the date and time. The shortcuts for date and time must be enclosed within square brackets [ ].\u2028In that case, however, you must always ensure that the camera&#8217;s clock is set correctly\u2014something I often forget to do. For this reason, I preferred to simply insert an identifier that tells me which GoPro was used.\u2028It is also important to check the box &#8220;Make this name change permanent&#8221;. This change can still be reverted by setting the basename back to nothing.<\/p>\n<p><b>WARNING<\/b>:&nbsp;File playback directly from the GoPro screen, USB transfer, the GoPro Quik app, and GoPro cloud services will not support these renamed files. This feature is intended exclusively for direct transfers from the SD card. Although it is possible to prepare presets, for many commands, it is much more practical and useful to bring the corresponding QR codes with you during the dive. This approach is essential, especially during the testing phase, when you want to experiment with different settings based on the actual conditions of visibility and depth.<br \/>Being able to change a value simply by framing a code is an invaluable advantage.<br \/>In this section, we will see in detail how to prepare and laminate the codes to take with you. It is a simple process that only requires a few easily available tools. The collection focuses on the commands that I consider most useful to be able to modify directly underwater, to quickly adapt to different conditions of depth and light.<br \/>The core of this set is dedicated to color correction. A wide range of values for the WARM command are included: from a light +10 up to a more marked +80, but also negative values (e.g., -10), useful in very clear waters near the surface. Similarly, there are codes for COOL, both in positive to manage greener waters (like those of lakes), and in negative for more advanced experiments at depth. For both, the off command is available to disable the effect.<br \/>I have also included the experimental command WBDV (on\/off), still to be fully tested, which on paper should work like an automatic WARM, the codes to set the maximum ISO, for the WIDE color gamut, and the indispensable RESET. The selection finally includes some codes for DIVE, which are, however, detailed in the dedicated paragraph. Unlike the others which are canceled upon shutdown, the DIVE commands are the only ones that are permanent.<br \/>To get started, simply download the PDF file and print it, which can be done in black and white. Simply place the laminating pouch on top of this sheet, matching its sealed edge with the red arrows. At this point, you can insert the codes inside the pouch, using the shapes on the guide underneath as a reference.<br \/>Once all the codes are in place, and only after ensuring that the laminator has Again, a paper cutter ensures the cleanest and most precise result, and you can use the positioning guide again for straight cuts.<br \/>After separating all the codes, the final steps are to round the corners with the corner rounder, often included with the laminator, and to punch a hole in one corner of each with a hole puncher. This will allow you to group them, in the order you prefer, on a key ring.<br \/>To complete the set and avoid the risk of losing it in the water, I recommend attaching the ring to a spiral clip. It doesn&#8217;t need to be particularly sturdy, but it&#8217;s an extra safety measure to always have your commands at hand.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element
