This significantly restricts the scope for adjusting settings, effectively only allowing the selection of presets through the GoPro&#8217;s \u201csecret menu.\u201d<br \/>Consequently, before diving, it is essential to dedicate due attention to configuring the most suitable parameters for the type of dive, an indispensable step for the success of underwater videos.<br \/><em>For this guide, I used my GoPro HERO13 as a reference, but the principles also apply to other fairly recent GoPro models: the menus may vary slightly, but the basic functions remain need for extensive adjustments in post-processing. There is also the HDR option, designed for scenes with strong contrast between lights and shadows, but I advise against using it for underwater filming. Finally, the Log profile offers a more \u201cflat\u201d and less contrasty image, providing greater flexibility for heavy color grading and achieving a cinematic look. It is recommended if you only publish on YouTube or similar platforms and is mandatory if you want to use a wide-angle lens.<br \/>The 9:16 format (Vertical) is only suitable for mobile phones.<br \/>The full 8:7 format uses the entire sensor, offering maximum flexibility: you can crop it without losing quality to create both horizontal and vertical videos (ideal for Stories and Reels). Therefore, if you own a recent GoPro and want to use multiple social platforms, it is preferable to use 8:7; otherwise, 4:3 represents a valid alternative.<br \/>In all cases, I advise against using 9:16 (GoPro vertically) because too much of the scene is lost on the sides, almost always making it difficult to frame the subject well (<a href=\"https:\/\/scubasteve.it\/en\/errore-video-verticale\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this is based on my experience<\/a>).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e23bfbf e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"e23bfbf\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a4fa13f elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"a4fa13f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Resolution<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b7be60c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b7be60c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-no-translation=\"\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<style>.elementor-element-b7be60c{display:none !important}<\/style>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e0cbe26 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e0cbe26\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-no-translation=\"\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Resolution determines the detail and sharpness of videos. The higher the resolution, the more detail there will be, but the files will also be larger, requiring more storage space and a powerful computer for editing and post-production.<br \/><strong>My setting depends on the format I use, either 5.3K or 4K.<br \/><\/strong> With the 16:9 format, I use 5.3K, which, with a wide lens, allows me to shoot at 60 fps. When using 8:7, I have to use 4K because this format does not support 60 fps.<br \/>These resolutions are ideal for achieving high quality, allowing for good cropping, and improving stabilization in editing. High resolutions always mean large files: always make sure you have high-capacity microSD cards and backup drives.<br \/>1080p (Full HD), which I do not recommend, is only suitable if you have limited space or for fast transfers, and it prevents &#8220;cropping&#8221; in editing without losing quality. However, 60fps is preferred because it\u2019s ideal for capturing moving subjects, allowing the creation of slow-motion effects in editing to hide involuntary camera movements. The Linea objective eliminates the &#8220;fish-eye&#8221; distortion, making it useful for underwater architecture such as wrecks, ensuring straighter and more natural lines. Finally, SuperView offers the widest field of view but introduces strong &#8220;fish-eye&#8221; distortion at the edges. The best underwater stabilization can be achieved using the command DIVE=1 (HyperSmooth Optimization for Diving) via GoPro Labs.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-126e516 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\"
